MMA: Can't touch this! Er apparently you can.

So MC Hammer has started his own management company for MMA fighters. He is said to be an avid fan of combat sports and the company, of which he is CEO, aims to supply a full service to those fights under his banner of Alchemist Management.

He's not done badly so far with the notable names of Nate Marquardt and Jorge Rivera already signed.

Whether the trousers made famous by Hammer are making a reappearence remains to be seem.

Running is hard

So I've started running again, its been about a week now and got up to 2 miles last night (with a few stops in between!) Not feeling too bad this morning but still a long way to go until I can start looking at even 5km events I think.

I read something the other day on Runners World about whether its good to listen to music as you run or not. I'm still undecided, in one hand its nice to listen to a few tracks as you run along but then you realise that your actually making alot of weird grunting noises that you weren't previously aware of!

I listened to tracks from 2 albums that are a world apart yesterday, I started off with Slipknot and finished with Les Miserables. I think I should have gone the other way around because if your starting with the heavy music you've got nowhere to go but slower!

I think I'm slowly starting to figure out this blogging thing. I've found a few blogs that interest me so will add a few to my following page if anyones interested. Not that anyone would be because nobodies read this yet, at some point I'll figure out the next bit which is getting people to read the tedious stuff I put on here.

Finally why is it footballers (soccer) get all the attention for just kicking a ball about once or twice a week. I say this because I caught the Hyde Park Triathalon on TV the other day and that is one hard sport. I don't think I would have made it through the swimming stage right now and then you look at the likes of the Brownlee brothers and it made me think that we have a hugh amount of sporting talent in the UK that we've never even heard of.

I thin everyone needs to make the effort to support the guys and girls that put so much effort into their passion for not alot of money. How about you don't buy next weeks ticket for the footie, or give the weekends game on the TV a miss just this once and go and catch a random sport you've not seen before. You might be suprised.

Until next time.

Phil Baroni injured

So Phil Baroni has pulled out of his up and coming UFC bout with a collar bone injury. There has to be a question over where Baroni now goes with his career, in one hand he still has his punching power but on the other there has to come a time when you need to think about getting out with your dignity intact.

No doubt he will get another fight towards the end of the year but whether its going to be a fight too far remains to be seen.

First Post is always the hardest

Well, I keep saying I'm going to get around to doing this so finally I'm starting.

It's my day off and as there's not alot on TV I got to thinking about all the the things that I have to say and never do. As I do this I'm watching the classic Bruce Lee film Fist of Fury, a film that if you've yet to see it I suggest you make it then next thing you purchase. You can keep your Van Dammes and your Di Caprios, this is a film that shows what martial arts and acting can be like when they come together successfully.

Not that anyone should really be interested but a little about me. I don't think life has been all that bad to be, I've got a beautiful wife who I'm very lucky and a job that lets me do most of the things I want to do. I've got varied interests (some seemingly random ones!) such as martial arts, IT, music and instruments, most sports and books (although I buy more than I read!).

A few things that frustrate me (I'm sure I'll elaborate on them in the future)

  • Benefit scroungers, I don't think I'm alone one this. The system should be there for those that need it not as a career choice for those that don't feel like working.

  • Ignorant drivers, from those that can't wait to those that think its acceptable to not have tax and insurance.

  • BT, is it really worth saying anymore about this one?

  • Animal cruelty, it makes me more angry than frustrated because there's no reason for it. If you can't look after your animals then give them to someone who can.

  • Vegetarian sausages. Can anyone explain them to me?

  • Students, Everyone has a right to learn, but its also acceptable practice to wash once a day and have at least one outfit without a hole in it.

  • Butlins.

Some things I like

  • MMA, It's now bigger than its ever been and is a multi million dollar industry, but there are still people opposed to it who approve of boxing. Where's the logic. I've got plenty to say on this subject which I'll save for my next edition but suffice to say there's alot of people making easy money out of this newly mainstream industry.

  • Radio 2, who doesn't like Chris Evans in the morning (apart from my wife!)

  • Family Guy, I still can't believe it took my wife to open my eyes to the funniest thing on TV in years. where do the boundaries end with Seth MacFarlene!

  • Bruce Lee, the man is a legend. He may be another star more famous in death than while he was alive but I don't think anyone can deny that if he was still with us now he would still be making moves, directing movies and would be one of the biggest stars in the world.

  • Rocky, My favourite film, a real motivating and heart pumping movie starring one of the most underrated actors in the world, Sylvester Stallone.

  • Running, although I'm not built for it it's a really good way of getting the stresses of the day out. I've completed one half marathon and now looking for the next one after taking a few months off. My wife and I are now out running 3 times a week so hopefully won't take long to shed a few pounds and get back into running condition! If anyone knows of any 5km's in the south east by all means let me know.

I think I've been random enough for now so I'll end my first blog here I think. I have no idea if this is even going to be read but either way I've already got plenty to say in the next one.

Until next time.
